The Two Handed Great Sword is the biggest sword manufactured by Cold Steel. But don't let its size fool you , as there is nothing awkward or clumsy about this awesome sword. Sure it's big and meant to be carried over the shoulder instead of in a scabbard , but it's extremely well balanced and easily wielded by people of larger stature and physical strength. Weighing 6 lbs. 13.5 oz. with a 397/8" high carbon steel blade , it will make short work of pikemen or swordsmen and will prove equally effective against modern rifle butts and bayonets. To protect the hands from opposing weapons , it features a large guard with side rings plus integral parrying hooks that allow the blade to be shortened for close range slashing and stabbing attacks. The handle is made of wood and covered with leather and is extra long to afford a full two handed grip. What's more , it's capped by a heavy steel pommel that helps counter balance its long blade and serves as an effective weapon in its own right. Each sword comes fully sharpened and battle ready and we're sure you will be thrilled with its fantastic fit and finish. We would be hard pressed to think of a more versatile or effective sword than the "Bastard" or "Hand-and-a-Half Sword" offered here. For a sword of this size , it’s amazingly light and fast and tips the scales at approximately 3 lbs. Its 33 1/2" long blade is quite wide so it can produce deep shearing type cuts yet pointed enough to be effective in a thrusting attack. Its long handle is suitable for both a one or two handed grip and is fashioned out of wood covered in black leather. To balance the long blade the butt is capped with a beautiful "scent stopper" pommel which can be a lethal weapon in its own right. Every Hand-and-a-Half Sword reflects the highest standards in workmanship and materials and comes fully sharpened and ready for battle! To safely house the blade a very attractive scabbard made of wood covered with black leather and steel throat and chape is also included.

There are two basic types of straight bladed swords used in China. One is fairly long and heavy known as the Wu Jian or "Martial Sword". The other is substantially lighter and called a Wen Jian or "Scholar's Sword" and was primarily carried for personal self defense. After studying books and video tapes on the history and use of both weapons , Cold Steel decided to make their own battle worthy Gim (Wu Jian) for serious collectors and practitioners of Chinese Martial Arts. The blade of their Wu Jian is made out of 1050 spring steel and measures 30" long by 11/2" wide. For cutting and slashing , both edges are quite sharp and they terminate in a strong , useful point for stabbing. The traditionally styled guard and pommel are cast out of thick sturdy brass and fit snugly on a stout Rosewood handle that is both highly decorative as well as functional.
The Gim Sword comes with an excellent wood scabbard with brass throat , chape and sword rings and can be worn suspended from the belt or slung over the shoulder.

The Willow Leaf Sword is the classic Chinese broadsword used by soldiers and civilians alike from ancient times right up through the 1940's. Its broad , heavy blade is distal tapered to aid balance and perfectly shaped for all cutting , slashing , and chopping strokes. For ease of handling , it comes with a 7" long cord wrapped handle (one and a half hands in length) as well as a brass guard and pommel.
