So first let me explain, as I understand, the magazine subscription business. It seems that magazine publishers, like the airlines, have several prices for the same thing. First they have their cover price, which is what the magazine is sold for retail, per issue, in the store. Then they have a range of subscription prices. First, and highest is their "normal" subscription price which they advertise inside their magazine, and also is the price most magazine sellers charge. This high "normal" subscription price allows the magazine publishers and sellers to offer you "special" deals at certain times of the year to give you the idea they are having a "special" sale. This "special" sales price ranges from just below the "normal" subscription price all the way down to the lowest price you can ever subscribe at, which is called the "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price". When you see magazines offered at "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price" you know you have reached the lowest price possible for that magazine. ( double check a few vendors though, as they sometimes differ by a few pennies. Most of the sponsors I have offer their subscriptions at this price, so between this page and the following, you should be able to find almost any magazine available at the best "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price". BOOKS A MILLION, on page 1, has a very extensive inventory, and Magazine City, below, are some of my favorites, but do check out the others as they are all fine people and each specializes in a particular area )
Then we come to BestDeals Magazines. They have found a loop hole and somehow circumvented the "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price" and offer subscriptions to a limited number of fine magazines at a price that BLOWS away the "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price". How do they do it? They simply are not "selling" subscriptions, thereby they are not bound by the "publisher's lowest authorized subscription price". They say they are giving the subscriptions away "FREE" and just charging a $4.69 processing fee. Hey, who cares what slight of hand they use to beat the lowest "authorized" price ? All I know, is that it only costs ME, $4.69 , period, for the same thing the magazine publishers say CAN'T be sold for cheaper than their "lowest authorized price". So the $4.69 per full year subscription, I guess, is not "authorized", but I still get the same magazine others pay more for. ( Obviously, everyone but YOU, would benefit more if you paid the higher "authorized" price for these 100 plus magazines - but after 25 years in retail, I have learned that in the long run, I will benefit if I offer the best values for the money possible. After all, isn't that my job, to find MY customers the best values possible? )
A little warning. You might me inclined because of this RIDICULOUSLY low price of only $4.69 per full year subscription to over buy. You might want to RENEW your present subscription ( YES, you can do that ! ) And you might want to give GIFT subscriptions to friends and family. ( Yes, you can do that too !!! ) But who cares at this price ? I don't know how long this "gift horse" will be available, so I would take advantage of it while I can, before the magazine publishers close the loop hole. Remember these are limited time offers. Some titles are here today, gone tommorrow, as new ones are added.
When you visit the BestDeals site, be prepared. First, it is only the "Free Gift" magazines that are $4.69. So at the bottom of their page click on getting started. From here you will be taken to a page that has a menu of subscriptions. ONLY the "GIFT CERTIFICATE SUBSCRIPTIONS" are $4.69. They offer 500 other subscriptions, but compare before you buy. Once you click on the "100 GIFT CERTIFICATE SUBSCRIPTIONS" category, you will go to the current listing of, net to you, $4.69 per year magazines. Warning, they are mostly but not ALL, in alphabetical order. So you might have to search for your title.
