HOW TO LOVE YOUR LOVELEAF

1. YES, PLANTS REALLY GROW right from the leaf! You can't stop them. Why? That's just the way they propagate. Their seeds are imbedded in the crevices along the outside rim of the leaf. The seeds draw their food and water directly from the leaf... and away they go! At the beginning, a LOVELEAF will start to sprout its new plant children whether the leaf is placed on soil, on a table, or pinned to a curtain (that is the Caribbean way)! Soon, however, as the new plants begin to grow up, you will notice roots growing down on the other side of the leaf. Then, of course, the tiny plants will need soil to continue the growing process. They also need to be misted with water once a week (overwatering rots the roots), and they just LOVE sunshine and an occasional treat of any kind of plant food. (YUM!!!) And, unless you live in a tropical clime, they need to be grown inside. Your LOVELEAF is guaranteed to grow... or send us back the old leaf, along with a stamped self-addressed envelope, and we will send you a new leaf.

2. HOW BIG WILL YOUR NEW LOVE LEAF PLANTS GET TO BE? Eventually, unless it's cut back, your LOVELEAF plants will suddenly grow to be about four feet tall, and the females will burst into pink or white flowers in the shape of bells. Nobody we know can tell the difference between a male and a female LOVELEAF plant before it blooms. If you discover the secret, please share it with us all!

3. WILL A LOVELEAF GROW IF YOU DO NOT WRITE YOUR INITIALS, AND THOSE OF THE ONE YOU LOVE, ONTO IT? Yes. But do it anyway. It's much more environmentally friendly than carving your initials into the trunk of a tree, it'll make teachers happy if students stop carving initials into desktops, and it doesn't matter (in case you were wondering) whether the initials are placed face up or face down on the leaf. The people of the Caribbean islands have been practicing this tradition for years, not (they say) because it makes their LOVELEAFS grow... but because it makes their LOVE lives grow!!!

4. THE LOVELEAF CONTAINS POWERFUL MEDICINE. Yesterday's "weed women" of the Caribbean prized LOVELEAFS for their medicine. Any scientist can tell you why. With 27 phytochemicals, the LOVELEAF is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antitumorous, and hypocholesterolemic. Poor circulation, ulcers, heartburn, high blood pressure? Today's herbalists and holistic practitioners suggest placing six (6) LOVELEAFS in a container, pour boiling water over them, let steep 15 minutes and drink as a medicinal tea. LOVELEAF TEA - sure it is medicinal - but is it also a LOVE potion?
Headaches, sores, insect bites, boils, burns, warts? They suggest you mash LOVELEAFS, soak in water and mix with wet starch. Place the resulting poultice on ailing parts until healed. Salt may be added.
